Patio covers near Chino
The Fontana project has two patio sections with a pergola in between and stone column bases. Another backyard got an outdoor bathroom, a storage room and two pergolas next to the pool. On a custom home in Riverside we built the hardscape and outdoor areas along with the house.
Why shade matters in Chino
Summer afternoons inland make an uncovered slab unusable. A cover on the west side gives the yard back and keeps sun off the back windows.
Is this the right call for your project?
Call us for this when
- The back slab is too hot to use on summer afternoons
- You want a cover that matches the house, not a kit bolted on
- You want an outdoor room with a bathroom or barbecue
Pick something else when
- You want a real room with walls and windows: home additions
- A shade sail or umbrella is all you need: no permit or contractor needed for that
- An aluminum kit cover: a kit installer is the cheaper call
After the final inspection: keeping it in shape
- 1
Clear the roof and gutters
Leaves on a low-slope cover hold water. Clear them each fall.
- 2
Repaint wood every few years
Open-beam wood in the sun needs fresh paint or stain before it cracks.
- 3
Check post bases
Keep soil and sprinkler water off the metal post bases so they stay dry.

Patio Covers questions from Chino owners
Do I need a permit for a patio cover in Chino?
Most attached patio covers in Chino need a building permit. We draw it, submit it and build it to the approved plan.
Can the patio cover match my roof?
Yes. A patio cover can be roofed and stuccoed to match the house, or built open-beam in wood if you want contrast.
Take the backyard back from the sun.
